When Julian Cundiff’s first technical book appeared some seventeen years ago many who read it likened it to a nineties version of the classic carp book ‘Carp Fever’. Indeed many of today’s carp anglers remember it as the first instructional carp book that laid it all on a plate for them with nothing held back. His new book has been some fourteen years in the making and we are sure will be regarded in a similar vein, dare we say maybe even better? Written in 2010 it contains all the author’s hard worked knowledge during the last ten years or more and quite simply is the book he would have wanted to read if he’d wanted the perfect carp book to both motivate, inspire, inform and entertain. Almost 60,000 words in length with line drawings and illustrative pictures this is the book for all carp anglers of today.

You want rigs you’ve got them. Presentations and end tackles that genuinely catch carp not just look good in print!  Baits? Well these are the exact ones he relies on, from particles to boiled baits, surface baits to the ones you need when you need to buy a bite. Struggling with photography well that’s sorted too. Tackle, water choice and even how to get the best from a swim that you really didn’t want to be in but if that’s all that’s left…. That’s all well and good but the really story behind this book is that the author is just like many carp anglers today and doesn’t have days to catch carp and has to balance his carp fishing round life you most of you have to.

So with that in mind much of the book is about making the most of your time, motivating yourself when times are hard, chasing your dream, dealing with failure and learning to make the most of any day, any swim and any opportunity. The book is one anglers of all abilities cannot fail to learn from and whether you are new to the game and want a head start or have been doing it for years and want that extra motivation when times are hard its all within the following 192 pages. Let’s hope he doesn’t  leave it fourteen years until the next one ; even Guns and Roses produce albums quicker than that…..
